As an independent video journalist, still photographer and writer, Martha is passionate about media that facilitates positive social and environmental change. Specializing in creating short video documentaries for non-profit organizations, she has worked on stories spanning elder neglect, refugee resettlement, reproductive health and Native American human rights. Martha currently writes a multi-media, bi-monthly, blog series, The Video Effect, which is a partner of the GoodSpeaks Project. The blog explores how to leverage video and visual media for greater social change. Prior to filmmaking, Martha worked in the non-profit sector, both in the United States and abroad. She has a master’s degree in photography and video from the School of Journalism at the University of Texas, Austin and a B.S. from Cornell University in development sociology.
